JESSE FUREY - Executive Director

Jesse served alongside his wife Jenny on Cru staff for 10 years at his alma mater Radford University before founding the Bonhoeffer Haus in 2013. He helped plant Valley Bible Church, also in Radford VA, where he now serves as the Executive Pastor. He received an MDiv from Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary and is now pursuing a PhD in Pastoral Theology, also at SEBTS. He and Jenny have been married since 2003 and have four children: Elijah, Evie, Silas, and Haddie. Jesse loves fly-fishing, hiking, and tinkering with his motorcycle and bikes.

MICHAEL WORRALL - Associate Director

Michael is a graduate of the Bonhoeffer Haus and serves as the Discipleship Pastor at the Vine Church in Blacksburg. He cares deeply about forming whole-hearted leaders in and for the church. He received his BA in Communication from Virginia Tech and his M.Div from Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary. Michael has been married to Emily since 2017 and together they have 4 wonderful kiddos. Michael loves music, nerd books, and good coffee. He once used his own initials as the inspiration for a band name and his friends will never let him live it down.

HOLLY PAULETTE - Administrative Coordinator

Holly grew up in Richmond, Virginia, graduated from Virginia Tech in 2013 with a BA in English, and has since worked in administration and marketing at a homeless shelter, as a writer for her beloved alma mater, and in various roles at Valley Bible Church. She is a lover of words and the power they hold, an avid grammar nerd, and would choose a good book over nearly anything else. Holly is a disciple of Jesus, the wife of Morgan, and the mother of three wild and beautiful kids: Bentley, Shiloh, and Elsie. They also have a donkey and dozens of goats, though Holly is, by her own admission, a bit "indoorsy."

Pete Schemm

Pete is the Lead Pastor of Cave Spring Baptist Church in Roanoke, Va., and cofounder of the Bonhoeffer Haus. A graduate of Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary (MDiv, PhD), Pete taught theology there until 2010. He currently teaches Bonhoeffer Haus apprentices accredited Theology and Pastoral ministry courses through the SEBTS equip center in Roanoke. 

Pete and his wife, Vicki, have eight children: Charis, Colby, Jacob, Zachary, Parker, Anderson, Mary Kathryn, and Chase. 

 

Reid Monaghan

Reid Monaghan has a been in full-time Christian ministry for over 25 years as a campus minister to Division I athletes, a pastor and church planter in the northeastern United States, and now president of The Gospel Underground. In his ministry coaches and trains church leaders and teams, does equipping for churches around the United States, shares the gospel with university students, and helps the church to thoughtfully engage with people in our current cultural moment. He has long been engaged with the task of sharing the gospel in clear, relevant, and culturally compelling ways. Reid’s teaching combines a robust theological vision with a personal connection to provide a clear apologetic for faith Christ in our time.

He has been married to Kasey for almost 26 years and they have three children Kayla (circa 2001), Kylene(circa 2003), and Tommy(circa 2006). They make their home in Blacksburg Virginia in order to be close to family and to continue to engage in a University town.

Allen James

Allen serves as Pastor of Community and Missions at Cave Spring Baptist Church.  Prior to his time there, Allen served alongside his wife Stepheny for 20 years on the mission field in Asia.   Allen met his wife at James Madison University, from which he graduated before continuing on to earn his MDiv. and M.A. in intercultural studies from Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary. 

Allen and Stepheny have been married for 30 years and have raised 3 boys: Timothy, Joshua & Peter. 

 

Charles Wilson

Charles was born and raised in southern New Jersey. After accepting Christ in 1997, he began serving the youth in his local church. Years later he felt the call to pastoral ministry and decided to enroll in a local bible college to further his biblical education. Currently, Charles has earned a Bachelor of Science from Dallas Christian College in Ministry Leadership, a Master of Arts in Homiletics and a M.Div., Master of Divinity Global Studies from Liberty University Theological Seminary and is currently pursuing his D Min., Doctor of Ministry. Charles loves teaching the scriptures and communicating its practical application to our daily lives. His personal mission is to minister to the spiritual, ethnic, historical and economic challenges threatening the flourishing of all people.

Charles likes to attribute much of his success over the years to his beautiful wife Tranay. Together, they have been blessed with two amazing sons who have accepted Jesus Christ as their personal savior, Kyree and Charles Wilson, III.

Bret Johnson

Bret grew up in Northern Virginia and on the mission field in South America with his family.  In 2010, Bret lead a team in planting Valley Bible Church in Radford where he serves as Lead Elder. Before planting VBC, Bret received a Masters of Theology from Dallas Theological Seminary.

Bret and his wife Katie have 5 children: Jade, Tristan, Drew, Eden, and Karis.
